Many ask me why did I entitle the new album "Religious Prison"? I pretty much wanted to put out an album that was a wakeup call to the church. No I don't think every church has a problem with being closed minded but I think a lot of them do. I recently saw at a church here in Wichita where a pastor was forced out of the church by the elders because of the modernization he was applying to the church. They didn't like change, so the first mistake he made as a pastor they all formed a hate brigade and had him fired. I was pretty upset because he was a great pastor.
Same goes for me as an artist. I put out music that will inspire people to do better and try to search for more in life. I myself accepted Christ and happen to have talent in music. Well ive had remarks from parents after concerts that were downright rude. I would smile and brush it off but it still irritated me. I would think atleast I presented something positive to your kid and I even cared to share it.
There are many church's that are stuck in tradition and religion. Years and years of their own interpetations of what being a Christian is about when they forgot the key ingredient. Love! You see many Christians with soo much hatred toward gay people and towards anybody that is at all different than them. A Christian is to be Christ like and when I look at many church's I see an emptiness.
I have recently have been laying hands on the sick and casting sickness and pain out in Jesus name and have seen a lot of great results but many church's don't even want to acknowledge it as Gods work. I tell them to lay hands on someone and command the pain out in Jesus name and see what happens. Thats all I have been doing and it has been working. They want to sit in their religious comfort zones and resist stepping out into something greater than themselves. I just get sick of denomination and separation among believers. I feel if we believe that their is a God then we all should be in unity regardless of beliefs because like I said Christianity is based off of love, pure and simple. Religion goes hand in hand with politics when it comes to division. If one church doesn't believe exactly what another believes then hate is formed. Just as it is in politics among Republicans, Democrats etc.
By releasing this album I just hope many open their eyes to the true ministry which is loving another. Once that is achieved I believe many people on the outside will feel more comfortable about entering a church. As it stands, the outsider looking in sees the church goers having more conflict among each other than many non Christians do.
Religious Prison comes out on Halloween and will be free for all to download. I might catch a lot of negativity for it but someone needs to stand up. Might as well be me.
